The Weight of Glory

You know the scripture that says, “For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!]”? It might not make sense during the period of the momentary affliction, but yooo!, it makes a lot of sense in the aftermath.

September was such an interesting experience. I have not had such eternal pressure from trials and challenges like I have seen in the previous month.

There are things that happen in your life at a certain point, that open your eyes to so much that could greatly impact your life if not handled in wisdom.

That is why I want to thank God for the gift of coverings. I do not know how some people do it, but in this life if you do not have a covering, you are of all men most pitiable.

To know that no matter how deep, spiritual and mature you are, you need a cover over your soul that you might walk in the right direction of life. Like it is hard to see at the back of your head with your own eyes, so it is when you do not have a spiritual cover over your life.

I have always emphasized the essence of having a spiritual community; a community of spiritual friends who can hold you accountable, support you, and cover you in prayer always. We are in a time where I cannot stop to emphasize this even more.

The season is sensitive, the times are critical, and it would be sad for anyone to miss their timing in this wonderful season.

All I am saying is that I would not have gone through the last month successfully if it had not been for the people God has strategically placed in my life, including my spiritual authority.

I will share a personal testimony: Recently, my spiritual father had a dream/vision about me that was a bit interesting. Around that same time, I felt a very strange urgency to see him, that I tried to make sure that I see him.

When we were able to meet, he told me that he had a vision about me and he thought about calling me, but he was convicted that I would come to him. True to form, I brought myself to him and whatever God had shown him was sorted there and then.

What touched my heart intricately was the fact God shown him something I probably could not have seen quicker, and got it sorted in time. I am super glad that God has graced me to have such resources around me and in my life for the sake of my preservation.

There was so much going on around me, that if I did not take the step of yielding to the leading of God to seek help and counsel, I probably would not be writing this article this month.

Apart from the fact that this experience awakened my conscience to the sensitivity of the season, and what God is doing in my life, I also realized that it is easy for us to take for granted certain timings in the spirit and we end up missing very important elevations and promotions by God.

That is why I want to implore you friends, that whatever it takes, please pay attention to what God is doing in and around your life this season. Do not ignore the slightest convictions to God’s instruction in every area of your life.

Be humble enough to find help and counsel if you feel unsure about a decision, an endeavor, of venture you are planning to get involved in. God cares too much about us that he will do whatever he can to alert us about the places and spaces we should not go. With His still small voice he will show you the right path and direction to take.

This means that as we begin this new season of October, you are going to make a deliberate decision to pray, meditate on the word, and spending more time with God because we know by scripture that in his presence is where shows the path of life.

You will not miss your time, you will fulfil his call upon your life, you will walk in his purpose, and you will find pleasure in him forever.

And like the psalmist said

The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage. I will bless the Lord, who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore, my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety
Psalm 16:6-9

It does not matter what you are going through now friends, focus on the weight of glory that comes because of the things you are going through now. I have learnt that God in His faithfulness does not waste experiences and cannot allow you to go through certain things without a contingent plan for your glory. In fact, all this is happening because there is glory on your life, so don’t ask “Why Me?”

So, hang in there, keep the right attitude and consecrate your place of prayer and communion with God. You will testify soon.

Hallelujah!!

Stay Blessed.
