Trusting God

Life is a series of moments; moments which define our experiences, and consequently those experiences define our understanding and form our perception. One thing is for sure, that life as it is, is not the same for all of us since we experience and treasure different moments with different people and situations, and hence our experiences differ. But even in the difference of the experiences, there are certain things that are constant and inevitable through the process.

One of those things is Trusting God. We will definitely find ourselves in many situations and circumstances, yet even in such, we have to trust God. But what does trusting God mean? What is trust anyway? Is it easier said than done?

The psalmist says, “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which can never be shaken, never be moved. Psalm 125:1

To trust is to be confident, or sure; to be bold.

There is no single experience in life that won’t require the characteristics in the definition above. It may be at different occasions, or in different situations, but either way, you will need the same virtues to manifest and work for you.

What this means is that for such virtues to actually work and bear fruit in us, we have to be in the middle of situations that actually stir that seed to grow in us and bear fruit in us. From the scripture above, there is a reason why the psalmist says “which can never be shaken, never be moved.” It simply means that the things which intend to shake and move you will definitely come, but they will not have any consequence because you trust in the Lord.

From my limited personal experience, there will be days when you feel like nothing is working for your good, nothing is agreeing with you, you will feel delayed, or out of time, your faith will seem to be at its lowest, your vision will seem to be unclear, you will have many questions and frustrations in your heart, your mind will create scenarios of failure and defeat, you will feel guilty and condemned in the flesh or as if you have no one to stand by your side, the hand of God to help you will feel short and unable, and many other ways life tries to test us in the flesh; but all this will be happening in order to create an atmosphere and a breeding ground for miracles, if you totally trust in, rely, depend and fix your heart on God. All this is for your sake that your heart may trust in the one who is able to do exceeding abundantly, above what we ask, think and hope for.

The psalmist realized that these things may continuously happen in this lifetime, and therefore he said “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3”

He knew that from time to time, certain things will happen to shake and move us; that’s why he said “when”. But he was also conscious of this, that he will always Trust in God. why, because he was confident, he was sure, and he had a boldness that God would always come through.

Jesus himself said, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16:33” He said this so that we could always trust in Him.

It may not be easy, especially when we are in the middle of the situation or experience, but because of the word we have believed, we can rest assured that our God will come through.

All this proves to us that we can’t do this in our own strength; that’s why we are instructed as the just, to LIVE by faith. You have to believe that the situation will work for your good, for he has given us this confidence And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. He causes EVERYTHING to work together for our good. The end of his work is good; the end of the story he is writing for us is good; We can trust Him. Trusting God means that whatever we go through, in the end, can be used for our ultimate good.

I was having a conversation with a friend and we realized that when you read the stories and testimonies of the cloud of witnesses to the life of faith surrounding us, you realize that they give us the same picture, that whatever they went through propelled them into a a life of divine testimony and good reports “For by [faith—trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report Hebrews 11:2”

My point is, life will throw all it can at us, but with this attitude of Trusting God, we can go through anything, knowing that the end of it is a good report. We could be going through different things at this point in life, but whatever it is that is happening, we need to exercise this consciousness and allow God to cause everything to work together for our good; trust the process, don’t rush it; for He makes all things beautiful in His time and design. And when you trust his way, he crafts your things beautifully.

At the end of the day,

“The Lord is my Strength and my [impenetrable] Shield; my heart trusts in, relies on, and confidently leans on Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him. The Lord is their [unyielding] Strength, and He is the Stronghold of salvation to [me] His anointed. Psalm 28:7-8”

Happy New Month, and continue to have a fruitful year.

Stay Blessed.
