Life is a series of many events, some minor, some major, but in all circumstances, there is one thing that God has constantly instructed us to exercise, and that’s gratitude.
There will always be certain things along the way that give us reason not to be grateful, but we must understand that it takes a grateful heart to create an atmosphere of breakthroughs and miracles. Therefore gratefulness is a virtue we must exercise daily.
It’s in the ability to see the small things that happen to us and cause us to smile that actually build up to greater breakthroughs in life.
When your heart gets used to the habit of gratefulness, it opens your eyes to some details that would never be seen from any other perspective. It helps you to appreciate the small things that matter, to appreciate the process of things and settles you with a confidence that anything is possible anytime as long as life endures.
It’s the beginning of the month, and as it has always been, we have these expectations that we think the month is bringing; but to be honest, the month in itself has nothing to offer apart from the opportunity and place of a new season to make different decisions and choices, take different steps, dream bigger, grow wiser and position ourselves for the timings of God in the season. At the end of the day, the month itself remains a reference point for life’s experiences, but what brings the change is the ability to position ourselves in the month or season, make certain decisions and choices or even better, yield ourselves enough to the God who ordains seasons and times, for what he has in store for us.
So, let’s normalize being grateful for the simple things, the small things, the few people and the many, the kind hearts and the loving, the available ones, and the willing, the special ones, and those that are so dear to our hearts. You don’t have to wait for situations that will cause you to appreciate what you had; choose to appreciate what you have, because that is how we multiply it. Jesus didn’t ask for better bread and fish, but instead He thanked God for the five and two, and the end was an excess of 12 baskets.
So what are you grateful for today? Who are you grateful to today? Is there anything in your life that makes sense today that can give you a reason to be grateful? Then go ahead and do it; do it in any way possible. Don’t wait for special days and events to express how grateful you are to God and to man, but rather do it any time your heart feels the warmth to do it.
If God has been good and faithful, be grateful; If he has forgiven you and given you a fresh start, be grateful; If he has raised you and made a way for you, be grateful; for the people he has given you, be grateful; for the things he has done, be grateful.
If there is someone that has been a gift and a blessing to you, be grateful; for the opportunities and graces available for you, be grateful. If you really look around yourself, you will find something, no matter how small, to be grateful for; but all in all, BE GRATEFUL.
Stay Blessed,
