The Journey of Trust #2

Trust is basically the assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone. As simple as it sounds, it turns out to be one of the most tricky yet life transforming journeys.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Job 13:15

Life has a way of teaching us certain things whose experiences God uses to exercise our senses in the disciplines and virtues of the spirit.

Many times in our walk of life, we are presented with opportunities which push us to make the decision to either trust in God or in the arm of flesh.

One of the things I’ve learnt about this journey is that there’s an authentic process to every maturation or mastery in the things of God. You must take certain steps, decisions or directions to have certain results.

Nothing happens without a willing attitude to dare God be God in whatever circumstance it might be. Every testimony is birthed by an equal measure of tests. It’s those tests that give weight to our testimonies. Remember the story of Abraham and Isaac; the man literally lost his son on that altar, but because of that step, God became Jehovah-Jireh.

At every level of growth, there will be a trust test; it could be you need to make a deliberate decision to move out of parent’s home or otherwise, to start staying independently, it could be a decision to acquire some kind of property, it could be a decision to start a business or generically a transition into another phase of life; the common factor in all those experiences is the essence of trust. You must trust God to carry you through till the full maturation of the plans.

You learn to trust God for the unknown, to move to spaces you are not familiar with in order to receive his instruction and direction.

I have personally realized that there are things God will not bring into your life until you position yourself in places where he has to provide those things; for example you move to your own house and he begins to cause the elements of this world to advantage you with what you need for the house; or you accept the call for ministry and He begins to make sure that his vision for you is sustained and provided for. The examples are many but the point is, that all these decisions are made on the foundation of trusting a God whose character and faithfulness can be depended and relied on.

We are in a season where we need to deliberately trust in God’s ability, grace, sustenance, faithfulness and character not only to perform but also to be the God He is.

It is natural for human beings to live and to be moved by what they see; that’s why in times of pain, sickness, lack and many other physical and carnal seasons, the faith and trust of many is shaken. Jacob was shaken when the sons brought back Joseph’s cloak with goat’s blood. Do you know that Jacob mourned for 22 years over a situation that was not true? Sometimes even when the circumstances don’t look encouraging or promising, we must train ourselves to depend on the unchanging word and promise of God for our lives.

Who is God to you Today? What promise are you standing on right now?

God has instructed us through is word that we are to Live by Faith and not by sight. If we are going to define the life of a believer, then we have to do that in the realm of faith. We are citizens of faith, not sight. The laws and principles in the country of sight and carnality don’t or shouldn’t have consequence on us, because our life is defined by different laws; the bible calls it the law of faith. That’s the only valid way for a child of God to live.

So regardless of the circumstance, you are going to choose which principle and law to live by, depending on your disposition. If you can align yourself to the reality of your true identity, you will then flourish at the advantage of the laws that govern the realm you live or operate in.

Trusting God requires us to take the risk, to take the steps we must take, to make the move, to make the decisions we ought to, because we completely rely on the one who is able to accomplish what he starts. He is too faithful to fail us always.

So, I might not know what kind of season you are in, and what you expect God to do in your life, but if there are certain things you are sure you must do, or things he has instructed you to do, then may God give you the boldness and courage to take that step, do it, and allow God to glorify himself in performing on your behalf. Jesus knew that Lazarus’ resurrection was to the end, that God is glorified.

Carry the consciousness that what ever God allows to happen in your life, is for your good; if it is not good, then it’s not the end. Keep trusting, Keep hoping, stay positive and let God be true & every man a liar. If you have seen God do certain things before, you can trust Him to do more.

May God uphold you in whatever season it is for you, but also carry you through to a perfect day. May you sustain a merry heart and consequently a continual feast, all to the glory of His name. Hallelujah

God can be trusted.

Stay Blessed,
